Event Description:
This event is open to Fall Start Centurions only.

Animal lovers, join us for coffee and conversation at the brand new KC Pet Project shelter. We’ll sit down with Marie Dispenza, Chief Development Officer (and Centurions Class of 2016 Alum) and Tori Fugate, Chief Communications Officer, to discuss how KC Pet Project leadership works with the city of Kansas City, Missouri to care for over 10,000 animals each year.

Since assuming operations of the Kansas City municipal animal shelter 7 years ago, KC Pet Project has become the 3rd largest No-Kill open-admission animal shelter in the United States. Just this month, they opened a state-of-the-art facility funded by a public-private partnership that represents national best practices in animal sheltering. We will learn why animal welfare is important to a community, how our local animal welfare industry compares to other major cities, and KC Pet Project’s long term goals for Kansas City.

Coffee will be provided by KC Pet Project.

After the LUC, enjoy an optional tour of the newly-opened Kansas City Campus for Animal Care led by KC Pet Project staff. The Q&A with Marie and Tori will be from 8 – 9 a.m., and the tour will be from 9 – 9:30 a.m.
