Event Description:
This event is open to all active Centurions and their guests.

Please join the Centurions DEI committee and Terri Goddard, TWP Resource Development and Community Outreach Manager for KC nonprofit The Whole Person, for a presentation on how to make your workplace inclusive for all people, including people with disabilities. Participants will:
  • Learn the history of The Whole Person
  • Learn what a Center for Independent Living is
  • Gain a general understanding of what disabilities are and why etiquette is important
  • Be able to Identify ways to make the workplace/everyday more inclusive for all people
  • Gain a general understanding of People First Language and be able to apply People First Language
Speaker bio: Terri Goddard, TWP Resource Development and Community Outreach Manager has more than 30 years of nonprofit experience as a professional and volunteer, with extensive knowledge of philanthropy and fund development in Kansas City. In past roles in non-profits, she has served as the Director of Development for Newhouse Domestic Violence Center, Spofford Home for Children, Kansas City Young Audiences, and Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey before joining The Whole Person as Resource Development and Community Outreach Manager. She served as a Corporate Trainer for DST before returning to her roots in non-profits.  Her many community volunteer roles include the Heart of America Softball League and 30+ years with the AIDS Service Foundation. Since joining TWP in 2014, Ms. Goddard has led TWP’s fund development and community outreach teams that have developed new financial and volunteer partners for the organization. As the manager of TWP’s special events, Ms. Goddard is experienced in assessing the accessibility of venues to ensure they are welcoming for people with all types of disabilities. Her role as AS-GKC Project Leader includes responsibility for project oversight including implementation of project strategies and budget, supervision of TWP Recreation Outreach Coordinator, facilitation of Regional Roundtable meetings, and supervision of the AS-GKC Outreach & Inclusion Coordinator.
