In recent years, federal statistics revealed that Kansas City has the fifth-highest murder rate in the country. Too often, the perspectives of victims and community, grassroots organizers go unheard throughout the Kansas City metro when addressing crime and public safety. This Issues up Close builds on themes and discussions from the July Task Force, and invites Centurions to visit with community leaders, volunteers, and professionals working to heal communities and improve the lives’ of victims affected by violent crime. Centurions will have the opportunity to consider these perspectives and how Centurions can participate in ending violent crime in Kansas City.
