How is the KC Chamber working with several area organizations to make Greater Kansas City an official Welcoming City? What does that even mean? Learn about the Greater Kansas City Welcoming Plan in a free webinar Wednesday, April 22 at 11 a.m.

The goal is to become certified through Welcoming America, to develop a communitywide plan to welcome immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ men and women, military veterans and other newcomers to be welcomed to KC with resources and other information to make their relocation go smoothly. Refugees, immigrants, and other newcomers bring a significant contribution to the local economy, contributing millions of dollars in spending power and starting businesses at a higher rate than people native to Kansas City. But they often face unique and difficult challenges. The Welcoming Plan addresses structural inequities that contribute to very real consequences that we are experiencing and seeing play out in the COVID19 public health crisis, such as disproportionate impact on communities of color, particularly the African American community; the lack of economic support for workers in the margins, particularly undocumented community members; and the need to build community and sense of inclusion and belonging for all residents.

Register now to learn why becoming a Welcoming City is good for business in KC – and for all of us.
